Overview

Korakou, a village located in the Solea region, approximately 51 km southwest of Nicosia, was once a diverse community composed of both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, until 1964. After that date, it was exclusively inhabited by Greek Cypriots. The village's administrative boundaries encompass the abandoned village of Agroladou, located to the north of Korakou. Situated near the western bank of the Karkotis River, at an average altitude of 420 meters, Korakou is blessed with a picturesque landscape. The surrounding hills, on both sides of the Karkotis valley, rise steeply providing protection for the crops from the winds. To the west of the village, the relief is mountainous, with the altitude reaching 921 meters at Mosphileri Peak. The landscape is further enriched by small streams that flow into the valley. The Korakou Community Council has undertaken a series of initiatives to enhance the quality of life in the region, through the implementation of various development projects
